St George Football Association (SGFA) will be hosting a St George Football Community Day on Sunday 28th July 2019 at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium to coincide with the NPL 2 Mens derby fixture between St George City and St George Saints FC.

SGFA CEO, Craig Kiely, is looking forward to a great day celebrating St George football.

“St George is the spiritual home for football in Australia and as the local Association we acknowledge there is an opportunity to do more to re-connect with that history”. Kiely stated.

“This Sunday represents a unique opportunity to do this with the NPL 2 Mens derby and to also further strengthen the engagement between our NPL Club, St George City, and the local grassroots Clubs, who are very much the fabric of the game.” Kiely said.

All 22 local SGFA clubs together with the St George Warriors (Special Needs Program) have been invited to be part of the day to participate in a range of activities including half time games, player mascots, ball kids and flag bearers.

SGFA will also stage a pre-match function with local Club Presidents who will be joined by some ex-St George players, coaches, administrators and family members including George Harris, Jimmy Fraser, Trixie Tagg, Steve Dettre (son of Andrew Dettre), Andrew Prentice, Shannon Warren, Dez Marton, Jimmy Fraser and Pedro Ricoy.

SGFA is still hopeful of confirming the attendance of number of additional ex-St George guests in the coming days.
