Former Australian Youth International Corey Gamiero has penned a deal with National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Men’s outfit St George City for the remainder of the season.
The 26-year-old striker who only recently became a father for the first time with his partner, SBS’ Lucy Zelic, will don the boots once more after concluding his time with the Central Coast Mariners in the Hyundai A-League, to assist in getting St George City up the NPL 2 NSW Men’s ladder.
His big match experience will certainly be needed by the club who are looking at avoiding the relegation battle currently gripping the NPL 2 NSW Men’s competition.
The club is currently in thirteenth positioned locked on thirteen points alongside rival St George FC.
Having played for the likes of Hyundai A-League sides such as the Wellington Phoenix, Sydney FC, Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar, Gamiero is looking at this move as a way to get him back to the player the Port Kembla born star once was.
Gamiero’s first match with his new club will be a home match at Jubilee Oval this Sunday at 3pm against the Rydalmere Lions.
He becomes the second former Hyundai A-League star to join the NPL 2 NSW Men’s competition after the Mounties Wanderers secured the services of former Western Sydney Wanderers legend Mark Bridge, who will also commence his career with his new club this weekend.
